According to the Associated Press, financial officials in central China's Henan and Anhui provinces have pledged to refund some bank clients' money after a protest over their blocked accounts got violent on Sunday.

On July 10, 2022, people waved banners and shouted slogans at the door to a branch of China's central bank in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, central China.

On Sunday, a big swarm of disgruntled Chinese bank depositors clashed with police in a situation that drew notice owing to previous attempts to prevent them from coordinating using COVID-19 tracking technology.

Customers with deposits of 50,000 yuan ($7,400) or less would be repaid, according to announcements published late Monday.
