Warrant Shows DOJ, FBI Waited Several Days After Judge Approved to Conduct Mar-a-Lago Raid
U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart issued the search warrant that permitted the Justice Department and FBI to conduct a raid at the Mar-a-Lago residence of former president Donald Trump on August 5, 2022, at 12:12 p.m., or about three days before the raid actually occurred. The raid didn't happen until the morning of August 8, 2022, when federal agents from the FBI arrived at Mar-a-Lago to execute the search warrant.
In a public address on Thursday, Attorney General Merrick Garland broke his quiet to discuss the situation in broadcast remarks. Breitbart News got the statement and studied it. It discloses that after Reinhart gave the warrant her approval, the DOJ and FBI put the raid off for a few days.
It is unclear why, given the gravity of the situation for national security, the authorities took so long to serve the warrant. The decision to loiter and wait for many days before carrying out the raid, if what federal agents sought to collect from it posed such a threat to national security, is sure to come under intense scrutiny when this discussion is presented to the public.
In his public statements on Thursday, Garland disclosed that the Department of Justice had taken steps to unseal the search warrant and a list of the papers it had seized during the operation. Trump stated publicly on Thursday night that he would support the action and wants the records made available to the public.
These records, including the warrant that Breitbart News has examined, are anticipated to be made public by the court soon, later on Friday, or in the upcoming days. The warrant, two supporting attachments explaining the terms of the order, and a property receipt listing the items federal officers took from Mar-a-Lago are among the papers Breitbart News was able to get.
