UAE Summons President of Romania to discuss relations and opportunities to expand collaboration
Talks focused on relations, action on climate change and opportunities to expand collaboration.
During a meeting in Abu Dhabi on Monday, President Sheikh Mohamed and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis discussed relations and opportunities to expand collaboration.

Mr Iohannis is on an official visit to the UAE, accompanied by first lady Carmen Iohannis. A guard of honour and a 21-gun salute greeted them at Qasr Al Watan in the UAE capital.
“Today I met with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis to further strengthen the existing ties between our two countries and explore opportunities to develop them further,” Sheikh Mohamed wrote on Twitter.
During the talks, Sheikh Mohamed expressed his desire to further strengthen bilateral relations. According to Wam, the leaders also discussed ways to expand collaboration in areas such as trade, sustainability, food security, renewable energy, and the economy. Both parties discussed a variety of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
“We also witnessed the signing of several agreements aimed at accelerating collaboration between the UAE and Romania.”
Climate change, according to Sheikh Mohamed, is a common denominator between the two countries, with both aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050. He expressed his excitement for Romania's active participation in the Cop28 climate summit later this year.
Sheikh Mohamed wished Romania and its people continued prosperity, saying that the UAE's goal is to foster partnerships that help drive sustainable development and enable a better future for all.
Mr Iohannis thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the warm welcome and hospitality and expressed his pleasure to be in the UAE.
He praised the UAE's progress and development, describing it as a regional role model for sustainable development. He also discussed his visit to Masdar City and the significance of the agreements signed between their countries in areas such as renewable energy, technology, and education.
He also emphasized the significance of the UAE hosting Cop28, saying the event's focus was critical to protecting the world's future and mitigating the effects of climate change. Several agreements were signed during the meeting.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad, adviser for special affairs at the Ministry of the Presidential Court, and several other important sheikhs and officials were present at the meeting.
